iPhone 5s Supplies Dry Up Quickly in Germany, France, and the U.K.

Online sales of the iPhone 5s have kicked off in several different countries, and a number of iPhone 5s models, the gold in particular, seem to be in short supply all around the world.

As the Apple Stores in France, Germany, and the U.K. come back online, it is clear that the shortages extend to European customers as well. Immediately after coming back up, the U.K. Apple Store displayed shipping times of 7–10 days for all colors and capacities, as did both of the online stores for France and Germany.

In Australia and China, online Apple Store shipping times for the iPhone 5s rapidly slipped to 7–10 days for all colors and capacities, with immediate unavailability of the 64GB gold version. Apple’s Hong Kong and Singapore online stores have even longer waiting times, displaying an October shipping estimate for all iPhone 5s models.

Based on the extended shipping times seen around the world, it is likely that iPhone 5s supplies will be tight in the United States as well. Both in-store and online stock are likely to be limited, and customers have already begun camping out at Apple Stores across the country in the hopes of obtaining an iPhone 5s on launch day.

Suckers!!! Tim Cook is playing you like a worn out guitar.

How do you create demand and buzz for a a minor upgrade? Eliminate preorders and have limited stock Brian says he's posting FA's shortlyin launch days. Suddenly people are wetting their pants to try to get it this weekend when there will be PLENTY in stock in October.

But it'll play great when Tricia Takanawa runs her stock story about Apple fans lined up for the latest release.

Ok genius, if Apple doesn't announce a gazillion sales on Monday the stock will tank and the media narrative will be this launch was a failure and iPhone demand is soft. If you think Apple is doing this on purpose to create "buzz" you need your head checked.

I have an iPhone 4, how is the 5s a minority upgrade for me?

I think many people fail to realize how many iPhone 4 and 4s are out in the wild. So the 5s, for many of us, is a pretty big step up.

I got my 4 when the iPhone came to Verizon. The next family upgrade came along a year later and my wife got her 4s. So for those of us who are still using the 4 it's a pretty significant upgrade.

Ironically, I installed iOS 7 on our devices last night. I'm out of contract with Verizon and can get the 5s at the subsidized price. However, iOS 7 has made my 4 seem like a new phone (to me at least). I'm half tempted to drag out getting the 5s for another couple of months. At least until any potential manufacturing-related bugs have been ferreted out.

oh no, the horror of having to wait a whole week for a new phone. Whatsoever shall we do... ITS THE APOCALYPSE!

seriously, they make it seem like this is some kind of disaster.. it's 7-10 days get a grip folks.
Plus i would rather wait a month or so for them to iron out the kinks like with every new phone release
