iPhone 18 Pro: The New Features You Should Try First

Nice to see the links to all the different articles at one place. I am not buying the 18 and I just updated my 17 Pro Max to iOS 27. On the Siri waiting list and I am excited to try out all the new features. To everyone getting their new iPhones today, enjoy it.

I was coming from a 16PM and was due for an upgrade through VZW so I decided to bite. I was surprised to find out I was all ready enrolled in VZW’s rewards program and if you are, you don’t pay the activation fee. I did get zinged for sales tax though.

I haven’t had a chance to fiddle with the camera yet. I just got done transferring all my stuff from the 16 and I’ve been battling a chronic illness so sometimes I feel like fiddling with it, and sometimes I don’t. I’m looking forward to learning more about the camera and what I can do with it.

And of course my phone is indexing. Always indexing.

I’m glad I got the glacier blue color. The second I opened the box I knew I made the right choice. It’s both attractive and tasteful.

Anyone who has iPhone 17 Pro or iPhone 17 Pro Max should pass on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. This is a “S” year for iPhone Pro models next year will be the year to upgrade.

I picked up the 18 Pro yesterday at the downtown Apple store. (Don't let the website fool you, they have plenty in stock.)

I'm upgrading from the 11 Pro, and I already feel buyer's remorse.

The 18 Pro just doesn't feel good to hold in hand, and the price tag is embarrassing all around.

I'll play around with some of the features before deciding whether to return it.

What decided me to trade-in/upgrade from my 17pm to the 18 pm is that my cost came to only $600 from T-Mobile. That was for the 1 TB model. I’v read lots of criticism of the 18 pm but so far none of it applies to mine. It has never heated up again since the transfer. Nor has it rebooted or tried to brick itself. The size and heft are very close to the 17 pm so I guess I’ve gotten used to it (and I have long fingers). The battery life is about the same unless I use it intensively. The lowest I ever got it was 10% on a day that I used the camera and played a lot of videos. The 18 PM has a better screen than its predessor because it’s semi-matte and thus easier to see in sunlight. The phone screen is harder than any screen protector i could get, so I peeled off the one I put on it. Yay! No trapped air bubbles! I keep it in a Mous case with a sling. I have a number of magnetic phone stands at home. They make the phone very comfortable to use with of an all things a mechanical Bluetooth keyboard.
