Late last week, Apple's online store for refurbished products began offering 128 GB fourth-generation iPad models for the first time. Wi-Fi models in black and white are currently being quoted shipping times of 5-7 business days with pricing set at $679, a discount of $120 from brand-new units.

The only cellular model currently available through the refurbished store is the white AT&T model, which carries an identical 5-7 business day shipping estimate and is priced at $789, a $140 discount compared to brand-new pricing.

Apple launched the 128 GB fourth-generation iPad in early February, several months after the release of lower-capacity models that saw updated internals and a move to Apple's new Lightning connector.

The fifth-generation iPad is expected to debut as soon as next month with a redesigned body taking design cues from the iPad mini, giving the full-size iPad a significantly narrower and thinner profile.

No judgment here, just an honest question for those who have the 128GB model: What do you do with this much storage?

I have 32GB, but it's plenty for me since I have iTunes Match. Even if I didn't, 64GB would take care of my needs. I know how to use lots of storage for photos/video/music on a desktop, but I'm curious how you'd fill an iPad with this much data (i.e. are you carrying around a lifetime's worth of photos?).
I have 183 GB of music, and I know people who have more. And iTunes match has it's share of problems, and with all that storage, you can play your music offline.

And also, some people don't have a laptop and use iPad as their main device for apps/music/tv shows/movies/etc.. That could take up hundreds of gigabytes.

I would love to carry my entire music collection with me at all times, but that would take over 100GB.

Currently on my 64GB iPad :
Music 9.5GB
Photos 6.3
Podcasts 2.8
Goodreader 2.5
Movies & TV shows 2.9
Books 1GB
Audiobooks 1GB

The rest is a hodge podge of apps and other media.

The main draw to the larger storage is not having to worry about space or your proximity to internet connectivity. Right now, I can't have the amount of music on my iPad that I would like. I can't put any of my kids movies on the iPad. I have to plan everything and sync more often than I would like. With 128GB (256GB is a nice dream) I can triple up on music. Put on there movies I've been meaning to watch, but can't schedule the time. More pictures. Lots more books.

In short it gives you more freedom. iTunes Match is cool, but I don't want to be at the mercy of a bad wifi connection.

I don't have an iPad at all, much less a 128GB model, but it's very appealing to me. That much storage would give me enough space for 2-3 seasons of various TV shows (very high-quality files) as well as full backlogs of some of my favorite podcasts. As of now, with a 16GB iPhone, I have to be almost surgical in deciding which episodes to bring with me on the road. I try to not rely on having an internet connection when I'm on the road... local is everything, and 128GB sounds heavenly.

Too bad the price is so steep. When the new iPad is announced and it's time to pull the trigger, I'll probably tell myself to make do with 64GB.

HD movies, big 1GB+ "animated books" apps (Skulls, March Of The Dinosaurs etc.) and magazine subscriptions like Wired, Empire etc. (300 MB+ per issue) eat up space very quickly.
