Is this worth buying? I'm not a power user, but want something that will last 4-5 years.
I dunno about 4-5 years. The processor is an A10, which debuted in 2016. 4-5 years from now is 2023-24, when the A10 will be 7-8 years old. A 7-8 year old processor today would be, what, the A5 (iPhone 4s and iPad 2)? Maybe the A10 will hold up better because we’re getting into the realm of excess power with the A series processor, but I still think it’s a stretch.

Yes it’s the iPad I recommend most people buy. I own a pro but that’s mostly because I like the 12.9” screen

I just ordered one of these 128GB versions, and an original Apple Pencil, after watching quite a few videos demonstrating how well Procreate works on this model. It seems to be a very functional and inexpensive way to dip one's toe into the creative capabilities of an iPad without going full-in on a much more expensive iPad Pro.

The A10 should hold up fine 5 years for basic tasks. Its power overhead is quite large. The 2GB RAM, however, certainly will not. It is barely enough now.
