Upcoming Apple TV+ Musical Comedy to Star Keegan-Michael Key, Fred Armisen, Kristin Chenoweth and Cecily Strong

Apple earlier this year signed a deal for a musical comedy starring "Saturday Night Live" cast member Cecily Strong, and now several other major comedy stars have joined the cast of the still unnamed series.

Keegan-Michael Key, Fred Armisen, and Kristin Chenoweth will have roles in the show, according to Variety Keegan-Michael Key is known for "Key and Peele" and "Friends From College," while Fred Armisen has starred in "Portlandia" and "Saturday Night Live." Kristin Chenoweth has been in several broadway shows and films, along with TV show "Glee."

The musical comedy series will follow a couple on a backpacking trip that's meant to reinvigorate their relationship. While on their journey, the couple find the magical town of Schmigadoon, where everyone acts as if they're in a studio musical from the 1940s.

Cecily Strong will star as Melissa, one half of the couple on the trip, while Key will play Josh, her long term partner. Armisen will play Reverend Layton, the mild-mannered religious leader of the town, and Chenoweth will play Mildred Layton, Reverend Layton's wife.

There is no release date for the show as of yet. It was co-created by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio, known for "Despicable Me," with Paul serving as showrunner and original music writer.

I hate Apple TV, it's like they want to become Netflix by artificially forcing content down our throats, but I haven't seen any good show there yet to justify the monthly sub.
Ted Lasso is a great show.

Where is it that you live, that having an Apple TV+ subscription is mandatory, and you are forced to watch it? Because I want to make sure I don't visit there. I like some things on TV+, but I don't want to go anywhere I'm forced to watch things.

Every single show on Apple TV+ is a quality program, unlike Netflix. I don't like many of them, but anyone can see that they are high quality.

And Ted Lasso and Mythic Quest are fantastic shows.

Honest question, is there anything that Apple does that is not perfect to you? Like just one thing that annoys you about one of their products or services?

There is plenty of good content on Netflix and much more of it but it's also more expensive. Lets be real, I can't imagine every Apple TV+ show/movie is a winner but nor would I expect them to be on either platform and everyone has different tastes in what they like to watch but it would be hard to believe someone couldn't find a decent amount of content on Netflix that they like.

The only show I've seen a couple episodes of is Ted Lasso and we can finally agree on something. Big fan of what I've seen of that show so far and hope to get caught up on it at some point when I sign up for Apple TV or buy a new device and get the free sub for awhile.
Stand back and stand by... ?

What kind of content is being forced down your throat?

Ted Lasso is a great show.
For sure on that. Always looking forward to a new episode dropping on Fridays.
