Apple Begins Selling Mophie's New Ultra-Compact USB-C Chargers Designed for iPhones, iPads, and Macs

Mophie today announced the release of two new ultra-compact USB-C chargers designed for iPhones, iPads, and Macs, with 30W and 67W options available.

Designed with GaN (gallium nitride) material, the chargers are smaller, lighter, and more power efficient than traditional silicon-based chargers, including Apple's own 30W and 67W chargers. Both chargers feature foldable prongs, a single USB-C port with fast charging capabilities, and a two-meter USB-C to USB-C cable included in the box.

The 30W charger is ideal for use with iPhones, iPads, and the M1 MacBook Air, while the 67W charger is suitable for the 14-inch MacBook Pro and more.

The only GaN charger that Apple has released to date is its 140W USB-C power adapter, included with the latest 16-inch MacBook Pro and sold separately. Apple is also rumored to be planning a new 35W charger with dual USB-C ports that could utilize GaN material, with leaked images suggesting the charger will feature foldable prongs.

Mophie's new chargers can be ordered through Apple's online store, with the 30W option priced at $44.95 and the 67W option priced at $69.95. The chargers can also be ordered from Mophie's parent company ZAGG (30W here and 67W here), which is currently offering customers 30% off when they buy two or more products during the same transaction.

Note: Mophie's press release as originally published indicated that the 67W charger had two USB-C ports, but we've received confirmation from Mophie that this was an error and that the charger only has one port.

Which is better — Mophie or Anker?
In general, in all such questions of one brand vs. another, there's no definitive answer. There can be a tremendous product and the worst product both sharing one brand. To judge tech product vs. product, you have to do the searches, read the reviews and consider a specific product vs. another specific product.

Please be seated to read this next bit... even the Apple brand is not immune to duds that are still branded Apple. See this summary of some classics ('https://www.macworld.com/article/342225/worst-apple-products-of-all-time.html') for example.

Both Mophie & Anker make some great stuff... and some dud stuff... just like everyone else.

Which is better — Mophie or Anker?
I have no ability to comment on their difference, other than what people have said about cost, but I can confidently say that I have a bunch of various usb-a and usb-c anker chargers; they're absolutely excellent.

Belkin and Mophie are both always overpriced and you can typically get a similar Anker product for far less. Not sure how they keep themselves in business overcharging for basic items like cables and chargers.

I don't. But I also don't know how consistent Mophie's quality is, either. Personally haven't had any issue with Anker products, but they generally seem pretty well-regarded?

Anyway, fair point. What I'd be more interested in is if (when) Apple itself starts making GaN chargers.
I've owned a few Mophie products and they were certainly of a better fit and finish than an Anker. Apple's got a couple GaN chargers but not for phones yet.

Which is better — Mophie or Anker?
I purchased many chargers from Anker due to strong words of mouth. About half of them died within 2 years. Contacting them for warranty replacement was very frustrating process. So never again for me.
