Apple today announced updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros and an updated Mac mini, with faster and more efficient performance thanks to new M2 chips. All new Macs announced today are available for pre-order on Apple's online store starting today, with shipments arriving on Tuesday, January 24.
The new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros come with the all-new M2 Pro and M2 Max chips, which offer improved performance and battery life over their predecessors for workflows such as video editing and graphic design.
Apple today also updated its Mac mini with the M2 and all-new M2 Pro chips. The updated Mac mini has the same design as the previous generation, but comes with faster performance and additional Thunderbolt ports for models configured with the higher-end M2 Pro processor.
The new Mac mini starts at a lower price of $599, while the updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro start at $1,999 and $2,499, respectively.

Apple appears to be sold out of the base Mac mini, and the machine is listed as “Currently Unavailable” from the Apple Online Store.

During today's earnings call for the second fiscal quarter of 2026, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that the Mac mini and Mac Studio could be hard to get for months to come.
"We think, looking forward, that the Mac mini and Mac Studio may take several months to reach supply demand balance," Cook said.

Macbook pro is so junky and heavy. It’s like the 2013 macbook. Back to future or back to the past? Lol. Would consider buying it when it is as slim as the last intel macbook pro.
Mac Mini at $599 is a steal. Glad, Apple was able to lower the price. This has to be the cheapest Mac.
It's a steal alright... by Apple after you upgrade the memory from 8GB to 16GB at a cost of $200 or an additional $400 if you want to max it out at 24GB
The Mac Studio appears to be a better deal than the M2 Pro Mac Mini when you bump up the RAM to 32GB. Also you get 10Gb/second Ethernet included. The only downsize to the M1 Mac Studio is the older HDMI 2.0 port instead of the newer HDMI 2.1 port on the M2 Pro and higher models, and it only has 10 CPU cores on the M1 Max Mac Studio.
