Paid Version of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Now Available

Nintendo today debuted Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete, a paid offline version of Pocket Camp that lets customers continue to play now that the freemium version of the game has been shut down.

Animal Crossing Pocket Camp Complete
The original Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp game was shuttered last week on November 29, almost exactly seven years after it launched. Because it was a freemium game, there are players who invested a lot of money in various items in the game, so Pocket Camp Complete allows those players to continue to play the base version of the game.

Nintendo has stopped all events and updates now that the online version of Pocket Camp has been discontinued. Pocket Camp saves can be transferred to Pocket Camp Complete and the game has many of the same features, but there is no support for visiting and interacting with other players or receiving gifts. It does not have in-app purchases, nor is there an online connection.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Complete is available from the App Store for $9.99. Saves can be transferred until June 2, 2025, and transferring a save requires a Nintendo Account.

It's a real shame they didn't just do this originally.

So if you scroll down on the app description, the last line says. "May include advertising". Does this mean I am going to see crappy ads in a banner or pop-up ads?

This would be a big letdown for a $10 phone game. If anyone downloads it, please let me know if it has ads. Of course that doesn’t mean they couldn’t add them later.
I haven't seen a single advert since purchasing this.

I love Animal Crossing and Complete is a great way to keep the game going.

As a former pocket camp player, I can honestly say this is the best outcome for a game being discontinued. Kudos for real to the pocket camp team for doing this. Super great to see!

Not a huge Animal Crossing fan but I am purchasing this out of principle. **** subscription-based freemium ****.

This was the right move from Nintendo.

You don’t have to buy anything in Pokemon Go to progress (if that’s what you meant by “have to buy Pokémon balls”). Pokemon Go is not like many other freemium games where the experience is awful if you don’t pony-up the cash. Pokemon Go functions very well without having to buy a single item with actual IRL money.
To the annoyance of my son I play most of those games in Advanced Dad Mode: don't spend a single cent buying anything to speed up the game; save as many diamonds (or whatever they sell for real money so you can speed up the game) as I can. I'm playing for fun, not to complete tasks. And I am not in a hurry.

Now get off my lawn.

Wait you mean this is a game where I don’t have to buy Pokémon balls or other digital items to progress? I’m seriously considering it.
