Tap to Pay on iPhone continues to expand to additional countries and platforms around the world, with payments company Deluxe being the latest to adopt it.

Small businesses and merchants can offer Tap to Pay on iPhone through Deluxe's app dlxPAY.

Launched in 2022, Tap to Pay on iPhone allows businesses to accept contactless payments on an iPhone, with no additional point-of-sale hardware like a Square Terminal required. The feature allows customers to pay by simply tapping their iPhone or Apple Watch, contactless credit card or debit card, or other contactless payment option on the merchant's iPhone. Payment is securely completed using the same NFC technology behind Apple Pay.

My barber uses Tap to Pay on iPhone, via the Square app, and while it’s just nothing different than tapping a regular pinpad, there’s something interesting about just holding my watch near his phone, and I’ve just paid. The idea that our phones are just mobile POS terminals is quite unique.

I've used it a few times. It works, but just taking a check doesn't cost me anything.
Taking a paper check? Do you have any idea how many of those either bounce or are fake? OK if you only atake a few dozen you could be lucky and they are all good. But if you accept enough of them, over time statistics will catch up with you.

If I take a check I say "When it clears the bank, you get the goods." It could take up to 90 days. Even if the bank allows you to spend the deposit, they can still claw back the money if the check turns out to be bad.

The last big check I got was a cashier's check from a non-existent bank. So many scammers out there. So my "you get the goods AFTER the check clears" policy worked.

I wish walmart would get onboard (yes, I know "shop somewhere else," but I'm in a small rural town and unfortunately can't). It's one of the few places left where I have to dig my card out of my wallet. I've downsized my wallet because of apple pay, and the new one is very skinny / a PITA to work with.
