Apple Watch Gets Snapchat App

Snap today announced the launch of a Snapchat app that's designed for the Apple Watch. Snapchat users can now view and respond to conversations right from their wrists.

The Snapchat app supports replies with the built-in Apple Watch keyboard, Scribble, and Dictation, plus it supports sending emoji, like any other Apple Watch messaging app.

Snap says that it is committed to making Snapchat available across all devices that Snapchat users own, including wearable devices like the Apple Watch.

It is rare for a major company to roll out an Apple Watch app these days, as it has not proven to be a popular platform. Slack, Facebook Messenger, Uber, Lyft, and more were all once available on the Apple Watch but have been discontinued after companies found that the development resources were not worth it.

I would reallllly like WhatsApp and Slack to get on the Apple Watch. And I do miss Uber. I like to take my watch out without my phone but can never be away for too long…

I remember using Snapchat in high school and wanting to open snaps right from my wrist. That time has now passed and I don't think anyone actively uses snap anymore.
You got old and moved on. But Snapchat's still there. In fact, I'd imagine most of its appeal stems from the fact that old people don't use it.

snapchat should add a few things:

-multiple device support

- persistent chat option for those who want it. It could still let people edit or delete their own messages at any time, like most other platforms, but sometimes it's nice to have a relatively persistent thread when communicating, even with the ability to make edits at any time to control our own digital footprint. It doesn't have to be default, it could be an option of course.

- change the logo and branding to something less kooky and more professional
Snapchat is on the web.

You can also change it to persist.

You can actually also change the logo on your iPhone - tons of options.
