Threads Rolling Out Two New Features in iPhone App

Meta today announced it is rolling out two new Threads features that will give users more control over the visibility of content on the platform.

Threads More Activity Filters
First, new "mentions" and "people you follow" filters in the Activity tab will allow you to fine-tune the replies that are visible in the feed.

Second, a new "review and approve replies" option when drafting a post will allow you to approve replies to your post before they are visible to the public.

Threads Reply Approval
The features will be available in the Threads app on iPhone, and presumably on other platforms.

Threads is a social media platform that competes with X, formerly known as Twitter, as well as Bluesky and Mastodon. Meta launched Threads in 2023, less than a year after Elon Musk acquired Twitter, and it works with an Instagram account.

Meta says Threads has hit 150 million daily active users.

At this point is threads just all bots?
🤷‍♂️ Only Meta really knows the answer to this.

Threads was decent for a few weeks and then it was overran. Bluesky became more widely used.
A quick search shows that just isn't the case.

Threads has ('https://backlinko.com/threads-users') over 400 million monthly active users and around 115.1 million daily active users. Even if half of those 115.1 million daily active users are bots, that's still over 57.5 million daily active users. (* Meta reported earnings last night and said they now have over 150 million daily active Threads users).

Bluesky ('https://backlinko.com/bluesky-statistics')? They have 38.26 million users and around 4.1 million daily active users. That's around 7.1% of the number of Threads' daily active users even if we were to say half of them are bots.

If we use Meta's updated 150 million daily active Threads user number and still say half are bots, that would mean Bluesky has less than 5.5% of the daily active users of Threads.

Not at all the case. Nearly nobody uses Bluesky (and numbers are dropping) and threads is growing rapidly.

Oh boy! Lots more options for the bots that run Zuck's twitter wannabe. The only thing Threads has over twitter is having fewer Nazis, but I am confident they will catch up.
