Google Adds 'AI Mode' Button to Chrome for iPhone and iPad

Google is updating the Chrome app for the iPhone and the iPad with a dedicated "AI Mode" button that matches functionality found in the desktop version of Chrome. AI Mode is located under the Google search bar, next to an Incognito Mode button.

The AI Mode option provides quicker access to Chrome's Gemini-powered AI search feature. Google says that AI Mode lets users ask more complex, multi-part questions, and follow up on answers.

Chrome users in the United States will see the AI Mode button in the Chrome apps for iPhone, ‌iPad‌, and Android as of today, with Google planning to expand it to additional countries in the near future.

I have ChatGPT Plus and Gemini Pro (?) for testing purposes right now and it's shocking and scary how confidentially it is hallucinating like I asked it simple stuff like "did XY die in the season finale of Dexter" and both were making up stuff that didn't even happen.

I can't image how many people think it's only telling the truth like I hear coworkers prais it for doing competitor analysis so quickly and I am like ... how do you even know if what the results are is even true and not made up cuz it's trying to literally please you.

It also told me I need a visa (again, for testing purposes) for Oman when it's visa free for less than 14 days and when you tell it "you are wrong!" its always like "that's right! You don't need a visa ... Thank you for pointing it out "

Presses…DuckDuckGo mode.

I know how to search. I don’t need a summary, especially from a company whose Adsense product destroyed search results with Adsense filled spam sites.

Great to see it, expecting a quick roll out to other parts of the world. I prefer to use the desktop version but will give this a try.
