Apple will add a vapor chamber cooling system to the iPad Pro as soon as next year, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
Writing in his latest Power On newsletter, Gurman says an iPhone 17 Pro-style vapor chamber is something Apple has been working to bring to the ultra-thin iPad Pro, and it could debut in the next model, which is expected to arrive in spring of 2027.
Apple overhauled the thermal design of the iPhone 17 Pro models to include a vapor chamber cooling system, where a small amount of deionized water moves heat away from the A19 Pro chip and distributes it throughout the iPhone's aluminum unibody frame. Apple says the design allows for 40 percent better sustained performance for demanding tasks.
The next generation iPad Pro model will likely feature Apple's M6 chip made with TSMC's 2-nanometer process. The liquid cooling system would help mitigate throttling, especially as the iPad Pro becomes more capable at handling intense workflows.

Despite knowing that the iPhone Duo would face "severe supply constraints" due to manufacturing challenges, Apple chose to begin iPhone Duo pre-orders on Friday instead of waiting until it had more inventory ready, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. In his Power On newsletter today, he called this decision a "major mistake."
"Let me cut to the chase: Apple made a major mistake here," he...
Apple's long-rumored smart home hub will have an iMac G4-style design and a host of unique features, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports.
The smart home hub is said to feature a square 6-inch display, with variants that can be placed on a countertop or mounted on a wall. It features a single FaceTime camera on the front, with microphones and speakers in its connected base. Gurman described the...
Apple plans to introduce a series of new smart home products on Tuesday, October 13, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
Apple reportedly plans to debut its long-awaited smart home hub device, a new HomePod mini, and a new Apple TV on the date. The new HomePod mini and Apple TV are set to retain their existing designs, but tout faster chips to support Siri AI. The new HomePod mini will...
Thermal throttling has not been the limitation of my iPad (even for gaming). It’s iPad OS and restricting software to the app store that’s the “throttle”.
Sudo and root file system access please Apple (never gonna happen).
“Hey, remember how spot on I was about exactly what was going to be released this past week, even going as far as knowing that more people were going to be rushing to stores this week (even though anyone paying attention knows Apple usually does preorders the week of, then has items in stores the following week)? Well, you’ll want to subscribe to read about my NEW dreams! Actually, you’ll don’t really need to subscribe, just wait for someone else to post a link to the details. Anything to keep ‘Gurman’ and ‘Bloomberg’ showing up well in search results!!”
Was expecting the next iPad Pro only in 2027. With M6 launching this year most probably, the iPad Pro won’t be the first device with the new chip. Addition of vapor chamber is good but currently not facing any thermal issues with my M4 iPad Pro except when using Pencil with the Notes app for some time.
Finally, a solution to the overheating I experience on my iPad Pro from the intensive software.
Really? Has Apple run out of ideas.
I appreciate people have distortion reality syndrome so look away. Steve Jobs lost touch in the 80s and needed to get the boot from Apple as he was making expensive crap no one wanted it’s time for Cook to go!
Apple's first foldable iPhone, with a book-style design featuring a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner display with a minimal crease down the middle.
