iOS 26.6.1 and macOS Tahoe 26.6.2 Fix Nearly 30 Security Vulnerabilities

The iOS 26.6.1, iPadOS 26.6.1, and macOS Tahoe 26.6.2 updates Apple released today fix almost 30 security vulnerabilities, according to Apple's security support document. This is Apple's third security release in three weeks as AI surfaces bugs faster than the company's typical release schedule can absorb.

Apple says the software includes security fixes that were previously added to the iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS Golden Gate betas.

There are fixes for an audio vulnerability that could allow an app to leak sensitive user information, an image vulnerability that could allow for arbitrary code execution, a trio of kernel vulnerabilities, and several WebKit bugs that could cause memory corruption or Safari crashes. Of the 29 CVEs outlined in the document, 21 are WebKit-related, and nine are credited to OpenAI Codex Security.

On iOS, Apple also fixed a telephony bug that could allow an attacker in a privileged network position to bypass IPSec authentication and intercept network traffic.

None of the vulnerabilities are known to have been actively exploited, but Apple always recommends updating to new versions of iOS, iPadOS, and macOS as soon as possible. Now that the vulnerabilities have been made public, attackers could target devices still running earlier versions of the software.

Apple also released iOS 18.7.10 and iPadOS 18.7.10 for devices unable to run iOS 26 and iPadOS 26. Apple did not ship macOS Sequoia or macOS Sonoma updates for Macs unable to run ‌macOS Tahoe‌.

The updates can be installed by opening up the Settings app, tapping into the General section, and selecting Software Update.

Starting today, iPhone users still running iOS 26 will see iOS 27.0.1 as the prominent software update in the Settings app under General → Software Update, with iOS 26.7.1 now relegated to a smaller "Also Available" section at the bottom. iOS 27 was released on September 14, but until now that update and later iOS 27.0.1 were shown under the "Also Available" section, with iOS 26.7 and...

iOS 26.7.1 Fixes Vulnerability Used in Targeted Attacks

iOS 26.7.1, iPadOS 26.7.1, macOS Tahoe 26.7.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.8.1 address a major vulnerability that Apple believes was used against a small number of people. Apple's security support pages say there was a CoreGraphics out-of-bounds write issue that could be exploited with a maliciously crafted file, allowing for arbitrary code execution. It has been fixed with improved bounds...

Here's What Apple's Apps Look Like on the iPhone Duo

Tuesday October 20, 2026 11:12 am PDT by
With just three days to go until the iPhone Duo is released, Apple is getting ready for the launch. Behind the scenes, the App Store now has screenshots of Apple's built-in apps running on the Duo. We've seen some apps in marketing materials, but images of the ones we haven't seen give us an idea of what it will be like using the iPhone Duo day to day. Many apps are shown in landscape...

Great! And that folks must mean we now never have to worry about any remaining security issues on the OS level.
I'm confused, are you complaining Apple is fixing security vulnerabilities?

It would be nice if Apple gave details on what these vulnerabilities are or were.

These vulnerabilities should not have been there. Anyway good to see that it is fixed now.

At this rate we are headed to weekly updates to every Apple OS.

I know this is going to be unpopular but I am tired of having to constantly update all my Apple devices. It feels like a full time job, enough already I wish Apple would get it together or fire the software team and replace them with better a better and more efficient team of software developers. Does anyone know why there are so many damn updates to all of Apple's OS's? At this rate we are headed to weekly updates to every Apple OS.
Ever owned anything with a MS operating system?

But seriously... I think Apple is cognizant of the nuisance that a seeming flood of updates on a short interval basis brings to users...

So for folks troubled by this, a bit of perspective is needed here:
- we are in a new era, one where AI has turbocharged experienced hackers ability to attack, and lowered the bar for clever motivated hackers to enter the arena, i.e. the good become great and the beginners become good.
- platform s/w vendors like Apple, MS, Alphabet, etc., and device manufacturers (think routers, smart home devices, medical devices, i.e. internet of things things) are, and are for awhile, scrambling, playing a game of catch-up.
- AI is a double-edged sword, it boosted the hackers, but also allows the vendors and manufacturers to review, find, debug, and re-code, their s/w at scale, essentially fixing many dormant bugs, and, within a certain platform, bringing uniformity to lots of code that is not uniform because it was built up over time.
- as useful as AI can be for detection and proposing code, no conscientious developer or vendor of s/w is just going to implement the AI suggested changes. Humans will have to review, look for dependencies that have to be managed, possibly modify the suggested code, test, test, test, implement the changes before pushing them out to the world of users.
- Finally, there are not unlimited human resources at these companies to do these things, so the fixes have to be triaged, and then staggered over time to not overload the staffs responsible for handling this work.

In short, folks upset about the seeming flood of s/w updates should: 1. view the situation differently, and see these catch-up changes as a good (and temporary) thing, realizing it is keeping their world safe(er) than if these out-of-band updates were held for a quarterly update.

Finally, folks should take heart that once the backlog of fixes is caught up with, it is pretty likely that we should return to the old pattern of longer intervals between updates and out-of-band fixes for only the worst bugs or 0-days under active exploit.
