Quicktime 6.5 Released

Apple has released Quicktime 6.5 in your Mac OS X Software Update:


    QuickTime 6.5 delivers a number of new features and important updates, including:

    - Creation and playback of mobile multimedia in the new 3GPP2 format.

    - Creation and playback of mobile multimedia in the popular AMC format.

    - Improved text track support.

    - Enhanced DV playback options.

    - Enhanced support for iMovie, iDVD, and Final Cut Pro.

This press release reports that Quicktime 6.5 is "the industry's first mainstream media architecture for the creation and playback of rich multimedia content for both CDMA 2000 and GSM wireless networks".

News.com reports that Apple also announced that "CDMA 2000 carrier KDDI, Japan's second-largest wireless service provider, has endorsed QuickTime 6.5 as a multimedia format on its network."

Apple today released new firmware for the AirPods Pro 2, AirPods Pro 3, and the AirPods 4.
