'iPhone' Ranks as Top Search Term on Yahoo

iphoneyahoo
The iPhone was the most searched for term on Yahoo in 2011, edging out both celebrities and the year's major news stories.

"This is the first time since 2002 that we have had a gadget at No. 1, which is an iPhone." Vera Chan, a Web trend analyst at Yahoo, said in a conference call announcing the results of the review now in its 10th year.

Sony's PlayStation 2 topped the list that year.

According to Reuters, Chan "credited the iPhone with helping to facilitate political movements around the world and said the device embodied the vision of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs who died in October".

Other top searches on the list included Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez, Lindsay Lohan, Jennifer Aniston, American Idol, the Casey Anthony trial, Osama bin Laden's death, and the earthquake in Japan.

Well yeah. Apple users were looking for info on when the new iPhone would be released, and Android users were looking for iPhone related articles to troll. No surprise here. :D

Just curious... how many people actually use Yahoo (and actually, what demographics use Yahoo?)

Personally, I use Google, and everyone I know uses Google... I know that Yahoo and Bing are out there, but who actually uses them?

I'm sorry the iPhone 4S has to find itself in that company. It's much classier than any of the above. Of course, a bag of doorknobs is brighter, and a pile of steaming poop is classier then the above highlighted individuals.:p

That anyone would search for "Kim Kardashian" or most of the other celebrities on the list is proof of the dumbing down of America.
