True. Recent news indicates the iPhone fad is over in China.

The current phone in high demand is the Samsung Galaxy Line of smartphones. The Note, and Galaxy S III are the most highly sought after.

Having read this in several sites & publications it's a refreshing reminder that nothing beats good competition.

Now that Samsung has been a formidable competitor against Apple, perhaps it will encourage the Cupertino company to do something. Like getting back to innovating instead of taking the low road & hiring more lawyers.

Hmmm... So letting someone take shortcuts by ripping you off is now considered taking the high road?

As for demand in China, it's no different than in the US before the iPhone 5 launched when all the talk was about the GS3. Once the iPhone 5 launched, that all changed. Galaxy sales quickly faded which is why you're already seeing fire sales for the S3 and why Samsung execs tried to mute this quarter's expectations with talk of competition (ie, iPhone 5 launch). It will be the same in China. Apple will drown out Samsung with the iPad mini and iPhone 5 launch.

Wow! The supply issues must be pretty much worked out if they can support 50 new countries! :)

Until China buys it all.

Samsung can and will fork Android. For the sake of performance and market share. Samsung will be able to optimize their fork of Android for their specific hardware. No more one-size-fits-all with vanilla (pun intended) Android releases.

And Samsung's fork of Android will become the de facto standard that all developers will first code to. Because Samsung has beaten all other Android manufacturers into the dirt. The official Google Android releases, and all "official generic Android" Nexus devices, will become even more irrelevant. They'll be ignored by developers and consumers alike.

Good luck to Google in keeping up with that.

Heh heh, Google will have terrible heart burn if Samsung fork Android the way that Amzn did with Fire HD. Amzn took Android 4.0, using their own App store (Play store is Google property and Google has been using it as the weapon to make sure every Android vendor is in line with what they wish. No access to Play store mean the platform is useless unless you have your own app store) and then sell the search right to Microsoft Bing.. Once Samsung did that they would have burned the bridge with Google. For now, Samsung will want to have access to latest and greatest Android stuff so long as the improvement are meaningful. In a few years when the smartphone growth slow down, it will be a way for Samsung to make extra dollars on their phones..
