Todoist for Apple Watch Released With Glance View, Task Notifications and More

by

Todoist today announced the imminent release of Todoist for Apple Watch, which should be going live shortly pending App Store approval, after nearly four months of extensive testing and development. The new app brings several task management features of Todoist for iPhone, iPad and Mac to the wrist, with a Glance view for quickly viewing tasks and a Main view that provides access to your Inbox, Today view, Projects, Filters and Labels.

Todoist Apple Watch
Firmly pressing using Force Touch brings up an option to add tasks using the Apple Watch's built-in Voice Command dictation, and tasks can be categorized into the main Inbox, assigned to a project or given a timestamp of today, tomorrow or no date. Filters and labels provide additional layers of categorization for your to-do lists, with the latter requiring Todoist Premium for $33 per year.

Todoist for Apple Watch also features notifications for new comments on shared tasks, when you are invited to a new project, when you are near a certain location or at the exact date and time when a task is due. Tapping on a notification will bring you to the full app, where you can view or edit the task at hand.

Todoist for Apple Watch will be free on the App Store and should be rolling out today pending approval.

Update 8:53 AM: The 10.1 update with Apple Watch support is now live in the App Store. [Direct Link]

I love GoodTask, too.

Thanks for the tip on GoodTask. I had never heard of it, but just checked it out and quite like it.

I tend to hoard To Do / GTD apps, and found ToDoist, Wunderlust, and other freemium apps to be extremely limited without forking over the premium fee. And for the price of that fee, I would rather just invest in something without a subscription that can accomplish the same thing.

Both good products, particularly, I love Wunderlist's design.

What Todoist has on Wunderlist? Here's how I see it (though I haven't used Wunderlist in about a year, some of these may be outdated).

* Todoist has labels and contexts
* Todoist has IFTTT integration
* Todoist has Mail client plugins
* Todoist has productivity tracking
* Todoist has project templates
* Todoist will allow you to collaborate without a premium account
* Todoist has location reminders
* On Watch, Todoist will allow you to actually input tasks (via dictation) into your Inbox
* IMO, Todoist has faster cloud syncing

...and no, I do not work for Todoist. I'm just a big GTD nerd that has tried almost every application.
I love nerds. And thank you for taking the time to reply. Guess i'll sign up, on yet another service, and give it a go!
I'm a Wunderlist guy - I've got pretty basic needs for to-do list apps. But to throw in a few additions (possibly added in the last year) in support of Wunderlist...

- Collaboration is now possible on free accounts
- Just the other day (Wednesday I think) I got an email from Wunderlist saying they now have an API that allows for 3rd party app integration - Sunrise calendar and Slack were the examples (not something I have used, but they have it now).
- Speed wise syncing is pretty much instant for me - certainly shouldn't be affecting usage.

Wunderlist doesn't support the other stuff though like templates, labels, location integration and productivity tracking.

Are there not any To-Do apps that sync with Reminders? Reminders is great (particularly when it comes to syncing a ton of tasks among multiple computers), but it doesn't have a dedicated Watch app, and I don't set a date for most of my tasks... it'd be nice to have something that pulls the information in from Reminders (and allows you to add tasks from the app, as well) and go from there. :/

i understand what you mean, but i like the to-do apps for larger projects. reminders for me are like when i get home, take out the trash. or get gas in the AM, or pick up dry cleaning.

then long-term projects i wold love more tasks to help complete the job.

I have had this downloaded on my iphone, along with Wunderlist, and Things. I discarded Things as I got the apps free and was not paying $40 for the desktop client. I started using Wunderlist and like being able to access projects everywhere. Wunderlist is ok and works, but too many extra steps to add further notes.

Anyone here have any comparisons between Todoist and Wunderlist?
