Apple Debuts Beats 'Active Collection' Headphones With New Colors for Solo2, Tour2, and Powerbeats2

by

Apple today updated its lineup of Solo2 Wireless, Tour2, and Powerbeats 2 Wireless headphones, adding a trio of new colors as part of a new "Active Collection." The Beats Tour2 In-Ear Headphones, Solo2 Wireless Headphones, and Powerbeats2 Wireless In-Ear Headphones are now available in simple primary shades of Blue, Yellow, and Red.

There are no changes to the hardware or the pricing of the three sets of headphones, and the Active Collection joins the existing range of color options for each product. Apple will likely begin offering the new Active Collection in its retail stores in the near future, and each of the three products is available immediately from the online store.

Pricing for the Active Collection starts at $129.95 for the Tour2, with the PowerBeats2 priced at $199.95 and the Solo2 priced at $299.95.

What happened to the Apple that kept product lines simple? There seem to be dozens of colors for these things now.
As the guy above said, you're confusing product lines with colour options.

Ever since Steve returned and launched the successful iMac line they've had colour options on many of products. The original iMac had a total of thirteen choices and that was launched back in 1998...

I wish Apple would come out with some slick Bluetooth EarPods that will work with the Apple Watch too and don't have gross Beats logos all over them. Maybe even using aluminum—perhaps matching the iPhone 6S colors? Preferably priced around $69 but I'm willing to pay up to $99 if they're good enough and aluminum.

Not sure to understand how merely changing colors make them any more "active" than their previous versions. What about waterproofing those that aren't? Making them lighter? Less prone to shaking when jogging? Better battery life? I'd bet part of the Music deal was that Jony Ive would keep away from redesigning the whole line of headphones.

Not exactly true... when it launched, it was in ONE color: bondi blue.
Very true, but it was only 5 months after release that it was available in a handful of colours. And then expanded to the 13.

My point was merely to show that there was no 'old Apple' way - ever since Steve's return colour options have been seen across many product lines.
