Gmail for iOS Updated With New Browser Preference, Multiple Message and Compose Options

by

Google has issued an update to its recently redesigned Gmail app for iOS that brings a few notable changes to email composition and management on mobile devices.

In version 5.0.7, an option in the Settings panel lets users select their favorite browser (Safari or Chrome) for opening links in emails.

Users are now also able to select multiple messages in their inbox by tapping on the sender's profile image or icon next to the email, while messages can be marked as read or unread by selecting the email and tapping the 'open/closed envelope' icon in the top toolbar.

In addition, it's now possible to edit quoted content when replying to a message, and to copy and paste rich text content in a message.

Gmail is a free download on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. [Direct Link]

Nice change. Really wasn't a fan of the recent redesign, but nice that they're fixing things and making it better.

Because one users get a taste of choice they will realize that iOS is a flashy/gimmicky and useless OS.
Why do you waste your time commenting on an Apple site when you clearly don't care for their products? It just boggles my mind whenever someone takes the time to write such things, not just here, when there are so many more interesting things to do.

because i used to love their products, and i'm hoping that more people being honest/aware of their recent streak of garbage will wake them up and force them to make professional products again.
I am currently using Android phones exclusively while I wait for iOS 10 to get polished up and out of beta. I agree with you, choice is good. And I'm not overly fond of iOS 10, myself, as it currently stands.

Now, having said all of that, there are ways to make your point that would be more respectful to iOS users. Many iOS users genuinely are enjoying iOS and could do without coming here every day and reading comments implying the lot of them are blind sheep for doing so. Very few people who make the effort to get acquainted with a forum like this are willfully ignorant and need a messiah to lead them to Android.

iPhone users probably don't understand what choice means, so this update that allows you pick your browser won't make sense to many of them. Choice is something that android offers all its users all the time.
