I wish I could have the cutting edge web standards support of Chrome AND the efficiency of Safari.

I need chrome for the built-in flash because I don't want to install flash for Safari.

No one needs Chrome, just like no one needs Safari. Some prefer Chrome, just like some prefer Safari. Improvements to the tools available for us to use is a good thing. I prefer Chrome because it travels well across various ecosystems. Touchbar support just makes it more useful for those who want it.

Great :D Hope they some day add P3 gamut support though. Things still look overly saturated on Chrome compared to Safari.

The touch bar support is pretty perfunctory. A Google search button, a "new tab" button, a "reload" button, and a "favourites" button. No youtube scrubbing, no tab navigation, ...

It's pretty risible.

Why. No. Reader. Mode. It's. F*cking. 2017. Google.
Because it would block their ads.
