I got my entire family to use it - including friends. Then... Google said they were going to phase it out for Allo and Duo. Then they decided to keep it around for just business users... and ... I guess now it hangs around anyway. My family / friends moved to WhatsApp ... I despise it so much - always draining iPhone battery and iPhone has to be connected to Wifi and ... ugh it is so laggy and slow. I really miss Hangouts and wish that google hadn't ... abandoned it ... or planned to then didn't .... or .... whatever they're doing with their many messengers.

I tried to get people I know to use Hangouts years ago. It's just too much of a hassle for typical iPhone users apparently. Unfortunately most everyone I know uses iPhone, which traps me in iPhone too - green bubbles are still shunned in the circles I run in.

Sigh.
Hangouts is horrible. Furthermore, Google half-asses things so they give up on projects midway through. Right now they have 5 or so different communication apps with no direction. Bottom line, you care more about Hangouts than Google does.

What do you consider “all of Google's major iOS apps”? There are still a few that don’t support iPhone X:

* Google Inbox
* Google Voice
* Google Play Books
* Google Play Newsstand
* Chrome Remote Desktop

Inbox still hasn't been updated :(
I haven't used the Gmail app in so long and can't be bothered to download it. Did they change Gmail to be more like Inbox?
