Apple Maps Lane Guidance Expands to Austria, South Africa, and Switzerland

by

In iOS 11, Apple Maps gained a new lane guidance feature, which is designed to let Maps users know which lane they should be in to avoid missing a sudden turn or an exit.

The feature was initially limited to the United States and China, but since the release of iOS 11, Apple has been working to expand it. As of this week, Apple has made lane guidance features available in Austria, South Africa, and Switzerland.

With the addition of these three countries, lane guidance features are available in a total of 14 countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, France, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK, and the United States.

Other iOS 11 Maps features, such as the addition of speed limit information, remain limited to the United States and the UK.

In before, apple maps suck.....

No it doesn't, used it primarily on a trip through a few countries in Europe, was better than Google maps which misdirected me several times.

Other than it isn’t, Apple maps is getting ok at best but still doesn’t have the database of locations that google has or the visual ease of Waze, while JI is in charge of design there will never be a good map app from apple, Apple maps passes all the design tests but is really hard to use, Waze probably fails them and looks cartoonish but is exactly what the user needs and doesn’t have to fit into any corporate view of ‘design’

Owning a CarPlay headset I can say that the best feature it has by far is the ability to bypass Apple maps and use Waze.
I don’t agree. Apple Maps look very clean and is easy to use.

I really love Apple Maps now, but they really need to improve in only two ways to really make the best app:

1. Offline map
2. Showing our speed limit

The only two things missing!
