Apple Releases Safari Technology Preview 56 With Bug Fixes and Feature Improvements

safaripreviewiconApple today released a new update for Safari Technology Preview, the experimental browser Apple first introduced over two years ago in March of 2016. Apple designed the Safari Technology Preview to test features that may be introduced into future release versions of Safari.

Safari Technology Preview release 56 includes bug fixes and feature improvements for JavaScript, WebAssembly, Web API, Security, CSS, Rendering, Media, and Web Inspector.

The Safari Technology Preview update is available through the Software Update mechanism in the Mac App Store to anyone who has downloaded the browser. Full release notes for the update are available on the Safari Technology Preview website.

Apple's aim with Safari Technology Preview is to gather feedback from developers and users on its browser development process. Safari Technology Preview can run side-by-side with the existing Safari browser and while designed for developers, it does not require a developer account to download.

Problem is those features break a ton of websites. I always get excited to turn everything on and within a week I have had to always back off half of them. Is it possible you get a higher number by turning some off?

Web Animations, CSS Spring Animations and Async Frame Scrolling seem to have caused the most issues for me. 95% of the web is fully surf-able with those turned off.
The number was 482 still with or without those new features turned on.

That's awesome. I wish they'd improve the web inspector. I know Chrome, Opera and Firefox have much better web inspector. Safari is kind of a step backward.
