Apple today updated its iTunes Remote app for iOS devices to version 4.4, introducing a redesigned look and support for the iPhone X, Apple's newest flagship device.

The iTunes Remote app is designed to allow iPad and iPhone users to control their iTunes libraries from anywhere in the home, accessing music, TV shows, movies, Podcasts, playlists, and more. The app can be used to send music to AirPlay speakers and group speakers together to play music in multiple rooms at the same time.

Apple recommends that customers who download the Remote 4.4 update pair it with iTunes 12.7.5, which is the latest version of iTunes on the Mac.

In addition to a redesigned look, the iTunes Remote app update offers unspecified stability and performance improvements.

iTunes Remote can be downloaded from the App Store for free. [Direct Link]

Glad they could finally task an engineer to this.

Apple is so slow on some things it’s to the point of embarrassing.

Wow, it took Apple this long to add support for the iPhone X. So, a company approaching a trillion dollar market cap couldn’t add support for the iPhone X many months ago? Did they lack the financial resources for that? If Tim Cook wasn’t so clueless and actually spent time caring about products instead of political issues, Apple could have added iPhone X support to the iTunes Remote app even before the iPhone X was released.

Wow, I can’t believe it took them this long to support the X.

If I recall correctly I think it took about 9 months for them to update Remote app from iPhone 4 resolution to iPhone 5.

You’d think it’d be updated before it lands in users hands.

Awesome to see that they're still (or once again) working on this! I had lost all hope after seeing them leave bugs unfixed for years.

I don't mind how long it took to support the X (though it shouldn't have taken this long....) but what I STILL mind is that you can't control Apple Music on your Mac with it. Yes, I know I could Airplay AM from my phone, but, the connection for that isn't nearly as stable as is the connection from my Mac, which is hard-wired to my whole-home audio system.
