Snap Launches Snap Camera App for Mac With Twitch, Skype, and YouTube Integration

by

Snap today announced the launch of Snap Camera for Mac, which brings Snapchat's well-known collection of lenses and filters to Macs and PCs.

The Snap Camera app, which can be downloaded from Snapchat's website, offers up a simple interface with a camera field and access to hundreds of Snapchat lenses that add fun effects to your face using the Mac's camera.

The different lenses available in new Snap Camera app for Mac can be used with Twitch when streaming video content, and it is compatible with YouTube, Skype, Google Hangouts, and Zoom as well. Using the lenses does not require a Snapchat account.

Snap's new Snap Camera app features lenses created by Snap, lenses from third-party companies, and lenses created using the Lens Studio tool for Snapchat.

Lenses are available in a list in the app that you can scroll through, but there are also options to search for lenses by keyword, mark favorites, or assign lenses to shortcuts.

Snap Camera is a free download from the Snap website.

It's sad to me. I kinda liked Snapchat because it was the lightest form of social media, and they were the first underdogs to scare Facebook. Then they gave the middle finger to all their users by pushing an obviously unpopular (and objectively bad) redesign, just in time for Facebook to finish blatantly copying them.

By the time they were doomed, they were still worth $20B. Heck, they were up 30% on the day of the redesign. Funny, every young person knew Snap was down users, and that they were doomed, months before investors did. That Saudi guy was the last to fall for it. The $8B remaining is desperate hope; I expect them down to $1B within two months. If kids could short sell, it'd be down to scrap-and-sell price by now.
I totally agree. The redesign was the beginning of the end. When will companies learn that if it ain’t broke don’t fix? It’s ok to evolve but when you stray to far from what made you popular in the first place you’re bound to lose people.

Snap is bleeding users by the day. While this seems cool it is too little too late.

I haven't used Snapchat in months, in fact, I didn't even download it this time when I got a new phone. Instagram's stories are way better. When will they stop trying and just accept it's over for them?
