FuboTV Rolls Out Apple TV App Integration

by

FuboTV this week has quietly rolled out support for the TV app on Apple TV, allowing subscribers to connect their FuboTV account with the TV app and keep track of all the shows and movies they watch within FuboTV. For those keeping track, this means that FuboTV is now the second live TV streaming service to integrate with Apple's TV app, following PlayStation Vue last October.

Users can discover FuboTV content within the TV app now, and all shows and films will be marked with an "Available on: FuboTV" tag when they're available in the streaming service. Subscribers can add these movies to their Up Next queue in the TV app, and when they begin watching them in FuboTV, the TV app will keep track of their progress.

When first opening a movie or TV show from the TV app into FuboTV, subscribers will see a splash screen asking for permission to connect FuboTV to Apple's app. Once connected, users will be able to keep track of their FuboTV content in the TV app across their Apple devices, including ‌Apple TV‌, iPhone, and iPad. As of writing, Apple has not yet added FuboTV into the list of supported apps on its website.

There are nearly 90 apps supported in the TV app as of 2019, including a few live news apps, but PlayStation Vue and now FuboTV are the only over-the-top live TV streaming services available to connect to the TV app. Rival live TV streaming platforms that lack this feature include DirecTV Now, Hulu With Live TV, and YouTube TV.

Sure would be nice if Infuse and Netflix were integrated with the TV App.

if they can manage to add ESPN This would be a hard app to beat!
Meh. That's part of the problem, and why these OTT service prices are creeping up.

I don't want anybody to "add" ESPN, or any other sports or news network. I want them to decouple sports and news. And perhaps everything else. And allow you to pick and choose what you pay for.

The problem with cable - and the growing problem with OTT - is that you have to pay for stuff you don't want. It's primarily because the content providers refuse to decouple their offerings.

Happy with having cut the cord and going from $200/month to near zero. Tablo OTA 4-channel recorder (Tablo is now integrated into TV app as well...). OK, I pay a nominal yearly fee for the program guide. Free gigabit internet courtesy of HOA. (OK, they pay $30/mo for it). Hulu no ads $11.99 Netflix, Amazon Prime. (I would have Prime anyway). I paid for Netflix anyway before I cut the cable.

I auditioned Hulu Live, along with Disney, Playstation. Meh. Kept the basic Hulu ad-free.

If you want sports, you should be able to get a variety of sports bundles or adhoc mix-and-match. Without having to get news, movie channels, etc. And vice-versa.

Price the content and let the consumer put together their "package of choice" is that too much to ask for? Apparently.

ESPN has its own app, which is what he's asking for inclusion of in the TV app... Fubo markets itself as the place for sports, they've always had ESPN included.

Content providers won't allow it. They have monopolies. They have the OTAs over the same barrel as the cable companies.
