Satechi today announced the launch of its new USB-C Slim Multi-Port with Ethernet Adapter, designed for Apple's Macs and other USB-C machines.

Satechi says the added Gigabit Ethernet port is useful when working in spotty WiFi areas, while the HDMI port lets people use any HDMI-enabled monitor while on the go. It supports video output up to 4K at 30Hz.

I get that it’s a press photo, but what kind of psychopath would put the laptop in front of the display like that?

That’s a nice display. What brand is it? Or is it just a mock-up?
I ran the "Enhance!" function for you:

$80 seems oddly high, these sort of things go for more like $25-40 on Amazon

This adapter can’t possibly exist, and there must be a typo in that $80 price.

I’ve got it from the usual, reliable sources here on MR forums that the purchase of a USB-C MacBook Pro also requires you to buy hundreds of dollars worth of something called “dongles”. Also necessary, the purchase of a suitcase to carry those “dongles”.

2015 MBP was too thick?
You tell me. Maybe too thin. The highly acclaimed and much revered 2015 MBP needed an adapter for Ethernet.

In any case, Apple thinks the internal space consumed by all those ports could be better used filled with battery. You might disagree, and that’s fine.

Apple seems to think run time is more important than having ports that most will never use on the go. Not necessarily true for you, but Apple has to consider the needs of all.

If you don't think ahead and buy a screen that's almost as wide as your desk, you're going to suffer the consequences
