Apple Closes All Retail Stores in Spain Due to Coronavirus

That’s what happens when you react late to a sanitary emergency, the country gets infected quickly.

As some already said, Apple Stores should have been closed a week ago. And schools, and restaurants, and big concentrations of people. But no, the government waited until it was too late.

As a British person living in Malaga, Spain for 11 years now, I'm disappointed the Madrid government did not prevent the exodus of Madrid residents escaping the city to the province of Andalucia where I live, spreading the virus far and wide.

I'm now told not to return to my office until the start of April with possible extensions to that, and we're currently told not to leave our home unless there is an emergency or absolute need to do so. Only today I had to go down to an electrical store to pick up a new monitor cable as mine got damaged.

There was an inconsiderate moron coughing and spluttering all over the cables. Needless to say I was fuming, and I made my thoughts heard to him and those around him.

Simple facts which people cannot get through their thick skulls.


* Wash hands often with hand sanitiser or just normal soap.
* Don't shake hands or have any physical contact with strangers.
* Avoid the elderly.
* Do not congregate in groups.
* Remain 1m away from people in the street.
* And if you have any cold symptoms, stay the heck at home and seek medical advice.


Today when out and about, people kept getting close to each other, goodness knows if they were washing their hands, and so many people coughing and spluttering....I just got the heck out of there!

I've stocked up with home essentials, plenty of gin and tonic and I have 6 spare rolls of loo roll. I'm riding this one out at home with my family!

To add to your list and to keep it a bit tech related…

* Keep your devices, and everything that is regularly touched for that matter (like doors, keys, refrigerator doors, car steering wheels), clean… like clean!
* Do not let anyone else touch your devices
* Do not touch anyone else's devices/things
* Use speaker phone or headphones as much as possible… it's surprising how many people don't stop to thing their most disgusting possession is constantly being put in contact with their face
* Stay away from smokers and gum chewers… a personal one but in my experience both these groups tend to have a lesser respect and awareness for those around them

I have to say though, I'd be not in a particularly happy place if I had only 6 rolls of toilet paper. I have in excess of 100 rolls… and just to make me seem even more paranoid, it was all bought over 6 months ago so there's that usage that's come out of it. And I live on my own. In my defence I do it mostly for price and it's always seems to be those mega-packs that go on discount. 😇

A phone is not disgusting. The smooth glass surfaces and things like oleophobic coating make it much harder for germs to stick to it too.

I don't believe phone cases and screen protectors come with oleophobic coatings. But if you want to trust in an oleophobic coating that's underneath something else go for it.

You say you live alone too, so what's the point? I assume you're washing your hands when you come home before diving into the fridge?

There's a lot of point to it. Just because I'm clean and wash my hands when walking in the door doesn't mean that the person that put whatever it is I bought on the supermarket shelf is the same. Just because I used the gloves at the supermarket when buying a lettuce doesn't mean some other shopper, that put their hands all over it before I did, has done the right thing… let alone breathed all over it.

Of course there's a line between being careful to that of being overly paranoid. But washing my hands when walking in the door assumes are great many things that are probably not true.

A phone is not disgusting. The smooth glass surfaces and things like oleophobic coating make it much harder for germs to stick to it too. Porous things like clothing are much more prone to picking things up and guess what, you're rubbing them against other people in a busy metro, touching guardrails on stairs, sitting on public benches, etc all the time. I would focus on doing the laundry more often rather than frantically cleaning your phone.

Also, many people like myself live alone so there's no point cleaning the fridge door etc as I'm the only one handling it. If it's got the virus on it it means I'm already infected anyway :) You say you live alone too, so what's the point? I assume you're washing your hands when you come home before diving into the fridge?

Well, not only that, lot of people from Madrid (where is the most infected area) are coming to the Valencian and Catalan coast and mountains thinking that the “stay in home” is equivalent to holidays, spreading the virus further. His irresponsibility will be payed by all of us that live in that areas.

Spanish goverment can’t see us managing the outbreak better than they and then, they don’t want that we reject them and some people claim for independence.
