I get the feeling a new model is coming soon , maybe May. I think the mini is the perfect travel size but unless it's a pro version with a borderless screen I'm not gonna bite. My model 3 works just fine until Apple offers me what I want

I had an iPad mini 2 which I loved, but when I bought a 2018 9.7" iPad 6th I realized that a 9.7" screen is the minimum size to read a magazine, book etc, now I'm looking for a slightly bigger screen, likely the next iPad Air generation.
The iPad Mini is the same footprint as a medium-large paperback book. It’s easy to hold in one hand, it’s easy to use on the go, it’s just the right size. It fits in large jacket pockets and on small nightstands.

The iPad Air weighs 50% more than the iPad Mini, it’s a big difference. It’s less portable due to its large footprint - more like a magazine than a book.

Mini 5 is the true iPad. I don’t understand the bigger ones. They’re not comfortable to use in hand, and they’re not as capable as Macs.

My mother in law has a mini 2 that she has had since it was introduced. It was a great machine but lately it has been running slow and its always out of memory.
I gave my mother an iPad mini 2 several years ago, and the battery just isn't holding a charge any longer, but she still loves it. I really think the mini has been the perfect iPad for her, and likely others of her generation, who value simplicity over cutting edge technology. Having a a physical home button makes using it so much easier for her. I've been wanting to get her a new iPad for a while now so Best Buy's discount seems to be a good incentive for me to do so. If they release a new Mini soon, I'm still okay with that as it likely would add more complexity to use (lack of home button). If I were buying this for me, it would be a very different story.

The mini 5 has a True Tone P3 fully laminated screen, unlike the 4. It’s a hugely better screen and I wouldn’t consider anything older. It’s also got an A12 processor, supports the Apple Pencil, has Bluetooth 5, fast charging if you use a USB-C charger. It’s an absolute beast compared to the 4, performance wise.

Just jumping on the "I love my Mini 5" bandwagon, in case anyone is on the fence. It's fantastic. No regrets on upgrading from my 4 last year (my nephew needed a device, so I gifted him my 4 as an excuse to buy the 5. :p )

I doubt a new device is coming without any rumors whatsoever, and with the strained supply chains around the phones and everything else.
