Apple Watch Ultra Can Check the Water Temperature As You Dive and Swim

The new Apple Watch Ultra features the ability to measure the temperature of the water as you're diving, swimming, and doing a range of other water sports thanks to new functionality, added durability, and a new Depth app pre-installed on the watch.

The Apple Watch Ultra is the most rugged Apple Watch yet, with features and design elements explicitly designed for swimmers, divers, and athletes. The new Apple Watch Ultra is also the most water-friendly Apple Watch, featuring EN 13319 certification, the international standard for diving accessories such as depth gauges relied on by professional divers.

When diving, specifically, divers can use a new Depth app that shows several key metrics, including current depth, elapsed time, the current water temperature, the amount of time spent underwater, and more. When underwater, the Apple Watch Ultra automatically opens the Depth app, making it quick and easy to get critical information without needing to open it manually.

The Apple Watch Ultra costs $799 and was made available for pre-order after yesterday's "Far out" event. The Apple Watch Ultra will begin shipping to customers on Friday, September 23.

But its only cellular not non cellular
You don't have to activate the cellular on it so what's the issue?

I notice you're posting this in every Ultra thread. And then multiple people are telling you what I just said. And you just post it again in the next thread. I hope you see this reply because maybe your notifications aren't working properly.

When underwater, the Apple Watch Ultra automatically opens the Depth app

When underwater with the non-Ultra Apple Watch it assumes you can't swim and automatically opens the Death app.

Neat feature. I'm more impressed by the Ultra features than I thought I would be, and I actually think it is priced well considering it replaced the titanium versions. However it is too gaudy for me.

Why would anyone buy the Watch 8 steel case 45mm when you can get a 49mm Ultra for just $50 more?
Because they find the Ultra too big/bulky for them?

I have around 15k dives under my belt and taught full time for 15 years

Its very cool and will sell
but nothing my Citizen watches did not do 20+ yrs ago (for basic info) or Suunto dive devices did as full blown computers but they were/are more specific use items BUT those did nothing for other things like working out or biking or hiking or daily life setting a timer etc... :) this is where the watch is so cool its just a daily piece !

I can see the integration of it being very cool they will bring it more to mainstream SINCE you do not have to buy a dive specific device which are $$$

also IMHO for safety its now a backup you have and when I did tech diving you want backups and redundancy !

just like the Sat emergency communication on the new iphone are going to take a HUGE chunk out of the garmin in reach or other devices sales I think !

I can see it taking a cut out of some of the dedicated dive devices

bottom line yeah this is super cool and so wish I had one at the height of my dive career ! Not that it would be a game changer just that daily life integration they offer and redundancy for even a pro to take advantage of etc.
