Does this mean the refurb store prices are reduced ?
Good one. Next tell me the one about them taking spec upgrades into account!

Apple buy items back for recycling only.
Naa, if they are in good condition and still a relevant model, they refurb them.

Trade-in almost never makes sense. Sell on eBay or FB Marketplace can be a bit of a hassle but will almost always get you more money in your pocket.

Best to sell privately. Yes it’s hassle but worth it.

Nothing surprising here. Values decrease over time. Sell it privately if you want to make money because Apple isn’t a second hand store. Apple buy items back for recycling only.

If you mean a 512 having more value than a 128, they don't. An iPhone is worth the same in trade-in no matter how much memory.
I just looked up my iPhone 13 mini’s value on Apple’s UK site and 512GB was valued at £295, whereas 128GB was valued at £250. So there was a difference, albeit a pathetic one.

Edit: tried the US site and there was no question about capacity, you’re right. Weird discrepancy.
