Apple Pencil 2 Falls to New Record Low Price of $79 on Amazon

This is the first major discount on the Apple Pencil 2 in 2024, and it beats the low price we tracked during the holidays by about $10. The Apple Pencil 2 is compatible with the following iPads: iPad mini (6th generation), iPad Air (4th generation and later), 12.9-inch iPad Pro (3rd generation and later), and 11-inch iPad Pro (1st generation and later).

If you have the newest iPad Pro models, the second-generation Apple Pencil can now be detected while hovering up to 12mm above the display. This allows users to see a preview of their drawing before they make it, and with Scribble text fields automatically expand when the pencil gets near the screen.

If you're looking for the Apple Pencil with USB-C that launched in 2023, Amazon has a smaller $10 discount on that model. It's available for $69.99, down from $79.00. Keep up with all of this week's best discounts on Apple products and related accessories in our dedicated Apple Deals roundup.

Apple: Please make an iPhone Pro Max that will support the Apple Pencil.
We've hit a point where iPhone screens are big enough where the option of Pencil-friendly capability makes sense. It would make a nice differentiator between the iPhone Pro and iPhone lines. If you've ever enjoyed a pen/pencil + Field Notes, it's a digital version of that experience. My Pencil 2 + iPad mini 6 combo has been workflow-altering. In a great way.

Rumor is that they are about to release the new Pencil Pro™

Hope they won’t remove wireless charging when attached to the iPad!

Can they be Find My yet? Gone through about 7 of them with kids school
Well, that’s ridiculous. I’d trade those kids in for upgraded models. :)

But more seriously, the second-gen magnetically attaches to the iPad AND there are a boatload of cases that protect it when it’s attached, which really should make it much harder to lose — so maybe tell the kids that if they lose another one they’ll have to make do with the cheaper knock-off styli that are compatible (I have one of those as a backup).

try it.. you'll be shocked.
almost 1% ipad battery drained per minute of use.
it's scandalous.
ipad also gets very hot while using the pencil.
1h of usage is almost 50% of ipad battery drained.
when you sit down and decide write something seriously, 30mn or 1h of time is not that long.

in the current state of the software for handling handwriting on ios,
if apple were to allow pencil usage on iphone, the results about autonomy would be even more dramatic.
Eh? I use them constantly on various iPads and Pros. Nowhere near 1% per minute. Lasts all day. Don't see anything you are describing - heat etc.

What app are you using? Thats the more likely problem... They probably have it polling the 100x faster Than it needs to.
