Apple Seeds Fifth visionOS 2 Beta to Developers

Apple today released the fifth beta of an upcoming visionOS 2 update to developers, with the beta coming two weeks after the fourth beta.

visionOS 2 Feature 1
Registered developers are able to opt into the betas by opening up the Settings app on their device, going to the Software Update Section, tapping on the "Beta Updates" option, and toggling on the Developer Beta. Note that an Apple ID associated with a developer account is required to download and install the beta.

visionOS 2 is able to take the depth information from 2D photos and turn them into 3D photos using advanced machine learning. Apple says that the feature is meant to add depth to photos to make memories more immersive.

There are new hand gestures for activating the Home View and Control Center, and the Home View is also now customizable with apps able to be rearranged. Travel Mode now includes support for trains, and Guest User profiles are now saved for 30 days so guests don't have to do the setup process every time they try out the headset.

Later in the year, Mac Virtual Display will support higher resolution and larger sized virtual displays, which Apple says will be equivalent to two 4K monitors side by side. With an AirPlay update, the Vision Pro can serve as an ‌AirPlay‌ receiver, so content from the iPhone, iPad, or Mac can be shared to the headset.

The Mindfulness app can track and respond to breathing patterns using the camera for an improved meditation experience, and the Vision Pro supports Bluetooth mice with visionOS 2.

I have had my AVP with visionOS 1.3 for 3 weeks. Is it still risky to install the visionOS 2.0 beta, or does it actually work without any problems? Does this have any significant disadvantages compared to the final visionOS 1.3 version?
First thing I did: Installed the Beta 3, now on Beta 5 - it just runs and gives you all the advantages of visionOS 2.0 spending my time on Bora Bora...

Go for it, I did not have a single problem with it. I am really playing around with many apps - for fun or productive. It just works.

Important news for all AVP owners:

[LIST=1]
* Wearing comfort has gotten up significantly
* Battery got 120 g lighter
* Optical inserts are not necessary any more

/Irony off

I own the AVP now for almost a month and it feels like forever - to all haters - you're missing out on many things but that's your own decision and I can hardly understand the negativeness except the things listed above which are real shortcomings and won't go away with any SW update and I hate the weight and the optics inserts - unfortunately mother nature has equipped my body with short sight view of my eyes and I hate it also in my daily life without the AVP :cool:

Other than that it keeps amazing me.
The Beta 5 installed effortlessly - Gigabit internet connection helps a lot.

Haven't found any new features in beta 5 yet but need to work now to get some money in and make my boss happy - will report about the stability.
So far the previous update had been pretty stable but some applications seem to crash from time to time - not a big deal since I am currently using my AVP mainly for test purposes and media consumption but there are some applications that are nothing short of stunning like the F1 3D APP and the Airport real time 3D view and of course the immersive videos.

For me it's the next big thing in high end media consumption. Equally to my ultra high end speakers this is the next level of enjoyment - and it's far less than ⅒ of the cost of my speakers - let alone the stereo and 5.1 setup additionally to be added in money - of course my high end system sound far better - who would have wondered? Yet the AVP gives me a travel friendly replacement and many other things on top.

For the haters - just carry on and hate while I am using mine in the plane, in the car or in the hotel while enjoying a wonderful evening and having a new episode of the GeekWebGuides show and finally to decide that the real sun down is more interesting. :cool:
