Apple Releases Safari Technology Preview 208 With Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements

Apple today released a new update for Safari Technology Preview, the experimental browser that was first introduced in March 2016. Apple designed ‌Safari Technology Preview‌ to allow users to test features that are planned for future release versions of the Safari browser.

Safari Technology Preview Updated Feature 1
‌Safari Technology Preview‌ 208 includes fixes and updates for CSS, JavaScript, Rendering, Scrolling, Web API, Web Authentication, Web Extensions, Web Inspector, and WebRTC.

The current ‌Safari Technology Preview‌ release is compatible with machines running macOS Sonoma and macOS Sequoia, the newest version of macOS.

The ‌Safari Technology Preview‌ update is available through the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences or System Settings to anyone who has downloaded the browser from Apple’s website. Complete release notes for the update are available on the Safari Technology Preview website.

Apple’s aim with ‌Safari Technology Preview‌ is to gather feedback from developers and users on its browser development process. ‌Safari Technology Preview‌ can run side-by-side with the existing Safari browser and while it is designed for developers, it does not require a developer account to download and use.

Safari runs from a read-only disk, there is no way a spyware or a malware can modify it. And Safari extensions are App Store only (or was it notarized apps too? But maybe those are deprecated). So yo will have to you have to put in the effort to actually install a malware extension.

If you want it fresh, delete all the Safari settings from ~/Library, it will be as good as new.

Wish there was a way to delete safari and reinstall it. without having to reinstall the entire macOS

every operating system except Apple allows you to delete your browser and go out to the web and download just the latest version of the browser.

Safari is such a piece of crap. it gets filled with spyware and malware real easy.

So if you just want to do a fresh install of just the safari browser you can not

how dumb is that?
How dumb is this comment? Firstly, claiming that it gets "filled with spyware and malware" is absurd. It would require runnable code to be downloaded and installed within and Safari would need to execute the code. How exactly? Do you have a proof? If you install things into Safari, then yeah, but that's up to you.

Reinstalling software makes very little sense, unless the binary is corrupted. Just delete the app data - Safari folder within the Library and it's done. You can go further, deleting the sandbox container, preferences plist file, but it's nothing hard.

I just wish they would add vertical tabs. I got far too used to the way they are implemented in Edge and it's hard to go back to horizontal tabs
