I didn't know that! I assumed they had crippled them. Presumably the M1, M2 and M3 MBPs Can also run two external displays?
M1 and M2 can only support 1 external display - due to the hardware limitations of the display coprocessor on the M1 chip.

M3 could only support one external display at launch, but Apple engineered a solution and later updated it to support two external displays when the laptop is in clamshell mode and the internal display is off.

I like to use 2x external displays PLUS my laptop screen with my current setup (an M1 Pro MacBook Pro from 2021). I had a base spec 13" M2 Air and then a 15" M2 Air - both of which were amazing computers for just casual computing. As time went on, I realized they were both powerful enough for most of what I do on my M1 Pro, but the main thing that stopped me was that I enjoy keeping my laptop open alongside my 2x external displays as a email/calendar screen. The M2 couldn't do that and neither can the M3. The M4 MacBook Pro can, so I hope the M4 MacBook Air will as well. Time will tell..

Good prices. But with M4 Air expected to be released in early 2025, might find better deals after that. Might be better to wait and see. But overall the M3 MacBook Air at this price is a good buy.
