Apple Resumes Offering Interest-Free Financing on iPhones in Canada

Apple's financing partner Affirm this month started offering interest-free financing on iPhone purchases in Canada again, after stopping doing so in mid-2023. With a 0% loan from Affirm, you can pay for an iPhone over 24 months with zero interest added.

This change, first reported by the blog iPhone in Canada, could help to boost iPhone sales in Canada following the recent holiday shopping season.

Affirm is still charging interest on iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro purchases in Canada, with APRs ranging from 4.99% to 7.99%.

Many of Apple's financing options in the U.S. are not available in Canada, including the iPhone Upgrade Program and Apple Card Monthly Installments, leaving customers in the country with no other options directly from Apple beyond Affirm.

Affirm acquired Apple's former financing partner in Canada, PayBright, in 2021.

Interesting. I bought an iPhone 13 years ago this way when they were offering 0% financing. I assumed 0% going away had to do with interest rates going up. Even though interest rates have come down a bit again I feel like this has more to do with sluggish sales.

I hope to the universal higher power that the iPhone 17’s get 8K video recording for instant upgrade. No wonder why Apple is desperate to sell iPhone 16 interest free when the sells are down.

If they still offer the SIM tray in Canada.
It is just far easier and cheaper to swap SIM when traveling overseas.

Telecom is pretty bad here.

Sometimes the carriers offer nice deals on new phones but only with new plans. If you've been with them 15 years they won't give you that deal because made up reasons.

I had to really spend time pursuading them to give me the new contract rate which was half the cost for four times the data. ie I was paying 8x what a new customer would pay, and they didn't get why that was unreasonable.

Apple's move here will definitely help a lot of people upgrade their phones.
Discovered years ago that loyalty gets you nowhere with Canadian telecoms. Best bet is to change carriers frequently and then take win-back offers as that's when the real deals come out.

I'm just having fun. I'm actually a Blues fan and wish nothing but the best for Berube.
Penguins fan here. I’ve enjoyed the journey with Crosby and co for many years. It’s been one hell of a ride. This year is painful to watch but I’m going to keep watching. Hoping Sid ends his career with us.
Good luck to your Blues. You’re on the outside looking in but still a lot of hockey left. You guys are right on the heels of the Canucks and Flames.
