Seems like the watch spends more time on sale than it does at full price. Are they not selling well?
They sell well but haven't been a hot item for a while. There hasn't been any major feature upgrades, plus some regression in features too.

They sell, but they aren't flying off the shelves because of product saturation. The Series 10 was a "meh" upgrade, and another year lacking a proper Blood Ox sensor continues to make the Series 8 the much better buy frankly.
I picked up a Series 8 SS for 199 from Walmart in November, and I am very happy with it. Apple would have to significantly step up its game with the Series 11 or the next version of WatchOS to inspire another super-upgrade event like they saw with the Series 4, 6 and to a lesser extent 8.

Didn't know there were 8's still out there. I have a 7 with a non-functioning ECG. Don't know what happened but it stopped working a few months ago. I'm holding out for whatever an Ultra 3 might be.
Oh it was brand new in box, and it came with a very old version of WatchOS installed so I assume it had been sitting in a warehouse for awhile and Walmart decided to just dump their stock. Found out about the sale from SlickDeals.

… I have to charge my phone everyday as well. I drop my watch on the charger before shaving and showering in the morning before work. It’s full when I put it back on 30-40 minutes later so again I seriously don’t get your gripe here.
It's not really a gripe...but it takes more like 60+ minutes for a full charge for me. I really don't use the Watch that much...I get a few phone call alerts during the day, maybe 15 text alerts during the day, maybe 5 email alerts during the day and that's it. It's on my wrist 8am-10pm.

But my real gripe would be when I'm NOT at home...I gotta drag this very unique charger around...need to charge it every day...and in general when I'm on vacation I frankly forget to charge it overnight (because I'm on vacation and not in my routine) and now I wake up with a 25% battery. Sure, I can charge it for 1+ hours while I head out in the morning but then I need to go back to the room and get my Watch. Even going away for 1+ days requires me to remember my charger and cable AND to charge it. I want to be able to charge it Friday morning at 7am, go away for the weekend, and not have to worry about it until Monday at noon.

Again, I don't have any crazy gripes about my Series 7 but I think the main con for the Watch is the poor battery life when there seem to be a few obvious improvements Apple can make (thicker watches and thus larger batteries, better batteries, scheduling of alerts, etc. that I listed above) that should make significant improvements in battery life.
