“Every M4 MacBook Air on Sale“ – except for the configurations Apple decides not to sell on Amazon, namely every model with 1TB+ SSD.

These companies keep scaring us into buying now due to tariffs, yet they keep having sales. Some of the best Apple sales are going on right now. If you are a gamer I am sure you heard the news that 8bitdo will have a supply scare as only their US warehouses will supply the US and they have stopped shipping from Chinese warehouses... yet all their controllers are on sale and nothing is sold out since that was announced days ago. Just marketing playing on our anxieties.

Normally Apple uses something called just-in-time logistics in which they only keep a small number of units in-stock. But they had advance warning of the tariff increase and shipped a bunch of products over from China before the deadline. Now they are having to pay to store these over here and are keen to get rid of some of them. If someone needs a laptop later this year, it would be better for both Apple and the customer if they purchased it now. Apple gets it out of its warehouse and the customer gets it before tariffs potential raise the price.

The M4 MBA is too good a computer at too good a price to be on sale like this so soon. I think the recession is in full swing already and folks are tightening up their wallets.
Recessions are caused by people tightening up their wallets.

..and yes, many people are. Wife and I have decided to not unnecessarily upgrade any tech, appliances or cars as long as the tariffs are in place. Our expenses are down and our pay is up, but it's going into savings instead.

These companies keep scaring us into buying now due to tariffs, yet they keep having sales.
Or maybe people just don't/won't/can't spend as much as the industry expected?
Maybe retailers are sitting on huge inventory that will soon age out they haven't paid for yet in warehouses they rented at inflated prices?

Not going to much into the political side here but even if the tariffs work in bringing manufacturing into the US that will take years, years in which US costumers will end up paying those tariffs.

A few days ago I watched a video of 2 guys going through US pricing for various GPUs and just for fun I decided to mirror that on amazon.de (not the best prices by far). Prices were almost all lower by 10-20% despite them including 19% VAT.

My guess is that someone in the supply chain pushed more stuff towards Europe betting on the margins being more reliable here. That bet didn't work out right now and everything is "on sale" (aka MSRP).

Unless the WH reverses course completely (they won't), the doodoo will hit the fan very,
That ship has already sailed (50% empty).
The issue isn't the tariffs, it isn't even the height of the tariffs. It is that noone stuffing a container in China knows what will happen once it reaches the US and if their timing is bad they may end up paying the tariffs in full a week before they are suspended again. Or a ship that was supposed to make inside a deadline gets delayed by just a bit.

So yeah the #### is already hitting the fan, mostly in the US and China with everybody else running low on popcorn.
