New Apple Arcade Ad Features SpongeBob, Pac-Man, Sonic, and More

Hold that train! The latest Apple Arcade ad shared today features SpongeBob SquarePants, Sonic the Hedgehog, Pac-Man, Hello Kitty, and many other popular characters, who are all quickly trying to board a departing train at a station.

The idea behind the ad is that Apple Arcade provides you with access to hundreds of games on the go, right on your iPhone, with a single subscription.

"Bring hundreds of games with you," says Apple. "Fun for all. All on iPhone."

Accessible through the App Store, Apple Arcade is a subscription-based service that provides access to hundreds of games across the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro, all free of ads and in-app purchases. In the U.S., Apple Arcade costs $6.99 per month, and it is bundled with other Apple services in all Apple One plans.

Apple Arcade is also prominently featured in Apple's new Games app.

I guess Apple is going to keep leaning towards the young kid demographic. I feel Apple Arcade has evolved into a service to help parents babysit their kids at this point.

A game I'd actually play myself comes out on Apple Arcade once every 1-2 years. Since it's so infrequent and it doesn't seem like it'll change, I actually hope games I like come out as premium paid games. That is, fully paid upfront without in-app purchases (not even the whole free trial thing, then unlock and download the full game as an IAP), no ads, no collecting your data to sell, etc.

Interesting ad. But besides very few games, Apple Arcade is lacking good quality games. Hope it will change in the future and some very good games are added.

Love to see Apple get behind fun games for the rest of us. I'm not a big gamer but I like to sit back and enjoy some casual games every now and then. Arcade is great because there are no fake "free" games, no in-app purchases, just fun.

I wish they'd start featuring arty games for an older audience again. The never-ending stream of kids' games is becoming rather tiresome
