I have a series 9 watch which, because I purchased it before the lawsuit, still does blood oxygen detection. So… Not gonna upgrade for the time being.??
I bought a refurbished Series 9 from before Apple crippled it in the USA because they are being cheap babies about losing in court, and I won’t be buying another until they bring the feature back. Blood oxygen is very important to me. I have severe sleep apnea and if my conditions gets worse or my CPAP malfunctions in a way that isn’t either clearly audible or otherwise clear visually then a change in my blood oxygen levels would be one of the first things that indicate there’s a problem, and for me, a potentially very serious problem.
If other smart watches have it, there’s no excuse other than being cheap not to pay to license the technology like other companies do until the patent expires. None. Not from a company with as much cash on hand as Apple. Heck, even if they charged extra for you to have it turned on and made you pay 100% of the licensing fee plus the Apple tax on top of it, it would’ve been better than crippling the device. So until Apple starts taking health seriously and puts a blood oxygen sensor back in, I’ll pass on their new and crippled …. I mean, new and “improved” …. models.
Bought a Series 10 for myself and one for my wife yesterday at these prices from Amazon. My S5 is still woeking well and the battery lasts me a full day, but my wife put a pretty good crack in her screen so we just decided to upgrade.
