Apple today seeded the release candidate version of an upcoming macOS Monterey 12.4 update to developers for testing purposes, with the new update coming a week after the release of the fourth macOS Monterey 12.4 beta.

Registered developers can download the beta through the Apple Developer Center and after the appropriate profile is installed, betas will be available through the Software Update mechanism in System Preferences.

When paired with a Studio Display, macOS Monterey 12.4 supports new 15.5 ‌Studio Display‌ firmware, which improves the quality of the webcam on the machine. According to Apple's release notes, the ‌Studio Display‌ firmware refines camera tuning, offering improved noise reduction, contrast, and framing.

There's also an update for the Podcasts app, with Apple adding a setting that limits the number of episodes stored on a Mac and automatically deletes older ones.

The questions I always have for each update are: What's new, what's fixed, what's improved, what bugs have still not been addressed. Is this information super-secret so MacRumors can't post it in the articles?

I still see Disk Utility unexpectedly quitting, send data to Apple.
I wouldn't say Disk Utility ever unexpectedly quits, because at this point I've grown to expect it.

It's a "stay on the main path or else" app IMO.

It'll probably be released tuesday.
Can't wait to update
RC can still have another RC 2 occur if they discover some issue. ;)

Even though WWDC is 25 days away, MacOS 12.x might incur another beta cycle leading up to and past WWDC.

So basically, developers are flying blind because Apple can't be bothered to provide information that would make their lives (and ours) easier.

Maybe they'll get the USB issues fixed on the fourth try?

12.3 still takes minutes to mount encrypted drives after booting.
