Nomad Stand One Gets Qi2 Update With 25W iPhone Charging

Nomad today updated its popular Stand One and Stand One Max chargers to add Qi2 support. Qi2 allows compatible iPhones to charge at up to 25W, matching the 25W charging speed of Apple's newest MagSafe chargers.

The $119 Stand One can charge an iPhone at up to 25W using the iPhone charging surface, and it can also charge the AirPods at the base of the device. It comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable, but you'll need to supply your own 40W+ power adapter.

The $159 Stand One Max has a design similar to the Stand One, but it also includes an Apple Watch charging puck. It can charge an iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch at the same time. As with the Stand One, a USB-C cable is included, but a power adapter is not.

Both chargers are available in either silver or carbide, and they support charging an iPhone in portrait or landscape orientation. In landscape mode, StandBy is supported.

The Qi2 Stand One and Stand One Max are available from the Nomad website as of today.

Or at a fraction of the price, get this new 3-in-1 Belkin charger that was just released at Costco-

https://www.costco.com/p/-/belkin-3-in-1-charging-stand-qi2-25w/4000406542?storeId=10301&partNumber=4000406542&catalogId=10701&langId=-1&krypto=E%2FxMgHpyVAXb0963YXKpZsxmBCEphHR7gpoEWO16%2F5WHTWfoyeqTshiAzXgFTocZg2%2FZB1vpwqRnQlbt3vWFYEgL5JXtVvIBMQlM%2FTtSiA5Dm30XX4UsqH3MZF0%2BTaMW

And as much as I hate TikTok, they have some pretty good Belkin deals on there from time to time.

I have two Nomad chargers and two much cheaper Meifigno(?) chargers.
The Nomad is obviously better quality - much heftier, with better materials
But the Meifigno do exactly the same job, have an extra spot on the stand to charge my airpods, and came with a charger.
Much as I'd like these new Nomad options I just can't justify them at the price they're asking.

Great to see somebody else shipping products without a charger. Nothing these days with USBC should ship with a charger and most of them could do without cables as well.

The ghost of Steve Jobs appeared to me in a dream, and he personally confirmed that the iPhone 18 Pro will support 1,000 watt MagSafe, and also offer the world's first cellular phone radiant heater. Your wish is granted, long life Jambi!

I don't think 1000 watts over magsafe would be possible with current technology. USBC can only go up to 240 watts.

But in reality, I think that adding pogo pins could help with the heat and thickness issues. After all, pogo pins transfer energy directly, no wireless energy loss required.

Even mixing it with quadlock tech could help, to really attach a battery beyond just magnets, quadlock would actually hold it securely in place. Or even Speck Click Lock. .. Basically, quadlock and Speck Click Lock should be integrated into the Qi2 / Qi3 standards.

Does anyone know if there is any difference whatsoever between Qi 2.2 and 25W MagSafe?
They're functionally the same. I believe certified MagSafe stuff gets the cute little animation though.

Remember when you could pick up a Qi wireless charging pad for £10 from Amazon?...

why are these charger becoming so expensive. I get that a 2-in-1 system needs to have two charging coils and Qi2/magsafe needs magnets around at least one of the coils, but does that really increase the cost tenfold, expecially when a charger is not included (anpther £15+ for a good quality 40 W+ one)?
